BDO Taranaki has a local team of 70, based in New Plymouth, including six Principals and 20 Chartered Accountants, providing advice and support for over 3500 taxpayers.

We are a full service accounting and advisory firm, providing core accounting, tax and audit services. Within the wider BDO national network, we also have access to specialist services, including corporate finance, business recovery and information system advice.

Locally, we have in-house expertise in accounting software, payroll, human resources, trust administration and, of course, everything agri-business.

Our large client base spans a vast cross-section of many different industries, including some of Taranaki’s most iconic businesses in the oil and gas, rural, engineering, commercial, not-for-profit and professional services fields. We support local farming organisations like Federated Farmers, Taranaki Rural Support Trust and the Coastal Rugby Club dairy farm.

Dairy farming is BDO Taranaki’s dominant sector with over 40% of our clients involved, in differing capacities, in the dairy industry. We act for a huge variety of farming businesses and structures, from small and large family farms through to equity partnerships and trusts.

One of the main benefits we see with Cashmanager RURAL is being online. It is easy for us to answer any queries, as we can go into the software and see exactly what our client is seeing.

Online access is also especially helpful around calving season, when our clients are super busy on farm, as we can help take the pressure off by completing GST returns for them.

We find the cashflow reporting to be the most useful tool, we can run off cashflow and budget reports quickly and go into as much detail as required. Entering budgeted information is nice and easy and there is the added benefit of having a direct link to Fonterra’s milk prices, which is always kept up-to-date.

Another feature we find useful is the stock tracker, with it updating as the client is purchasing and selling livestock, the end of year stock reconciliation becomes a breeze!

BDO Taranaki became a Cashmanager RURAL accredited partner so our staff could grow their knowledge of the software. This enables us to assist our clients when they have queries and for us to help them use the software effectively.
