Our Accredited Partner Programme is designed to recognise those accounting firms we regard as experts in the agricultural sector. They have demonstrated outstanding knowledge of Cashmanager RURAL, and can help add value to your farming business. In this blog we profile Martin Wakefield.
Established in Timaru in the early 1900s, Martin Wakefield is an accounting practice that has grown from those early days to now have offices in both Timaru and Christchurch.
At Martin Wakefield we provide a full suite of rural accounting, general accounting, auditing, body corporate services, financial planning services, business advice, taxation, and succession planning services to a large client base that extends throughout Canterbury, and includes clients as far afield as Kaikoura, Westland and Otago.
We are part of NZ CA, an association of independent chartered accountancy practices with members located throughout New Zealand. Its mission is to help its member firms improve their business delivery to their valued clients. Being part of NZ CA enables us to draw on the considerable expertise of a much larger organization, while maintaining client confidentiality. NZ CA is a gold sponsor of the 2017 Dairy Business of the Year.
Current directors Hamish Moorhead and Mark McMullan are both involved in the primary sector, each living on farms on the outskirts of Timaru.
Hamish Moorhead specialises in rural accounting and uses his extensive knowledge and hands-on experience that he can call on when advising his clients
Our farming clients include dairy, sheep, beef, deer, crop and honey producers.
We see the future of farm accounting and the advisory process to be through Cashmanager RURAL. It enables more interactive use between us and our clients through the ability to access and view up-to-date information at any time by either our clients or ourselves or farm advisors. We find this invaluable for our budgeting process.
The cashflow functionalities are a well utilised area within our clients’ databases. With constant changes, being able to closely monitor and update budget details with ease and report on current comparative data is paramount.
Features like Bank feeds, Trader statements and Scan My Bills reduce the amount of time spent stuck in the office and produce more accurate and detailed information with ease, enabling our clients to spend more time on the farm and family. Scan My Bills also gives easy access to the source document for a transaction, saving time and the need for customers to hunt out documents and send them to us at year end.
It is hands down our first choice farm accounting software, so becoming accredited was the logical step to take.
Accreditation cements our confidence in a product that has been servicing the rural community for a number of years. The product is well trusted and provides farmers a strong business tool in one accounting package.
It shows our clients that we are committed to helping them get the most out of the software, to assist them with their business growth and decision making.
Our clients can be confident they are receiving the assistance from staff that are familiar with various functions of the software and who understand what inputs are required to produce a multitude of reports driven from that information.
We look forward to the enhancements that are coming for the software and assisting our clients to utilise these to their full extent.
